Summit Midstream has sanctioned a roughly 900 MMcf/d expansion of the Double E Pipeline after securing 550 MMcf/d of new long-term commitments to move additional natural gas from the Permian Basin’s Delaware sub-basin toward the Waha Hub.
The company said the expansion is being advanced to support growing takeaway needs from the basin, where pipeline capacity remains a closely watched issue for producers and midstream operators. The project targets a fourth-quarter 2028 startup, and 450 MMcf/d of capacity remains available.
Summit Midstream also said data center demand is being eyed as part of the broader market backdrop for the project, reflecting how electricity needs from large computing loads are increasingly part of natural gas infrastructure planning discussions.
