極右活動家Laura Loomerは木曜日、予定されていたポッドキャスト収録が土壇場でFox Newsに取り消されたことを受け、Fox News CEOのSuzanne Scottに向けて罵倒語を連発した。
Loomerは、自身を調査報道ジャーナリストと位置づけ、陰謀論の拡散で知られ、フロリダ州から連邦議会選に出馬したものの落選している。過去の反イスラム発言により複数のSNSや配車サービスを利用停止となった後も、右派メディア界隈で存在感を保ってきた。Fox Newsとの関係は長年ぎくしゃくしており、それでも同局は時にポピュリスト右派の論者を取り上げてきた。
Loomerは、名前の明らかにされていないFox Newsのホストから、ウクライナへの最近の取材旅行について話すために招かれていた。今週初めには、長年の親ロシア姿勢を転換したことで注目を集めていた。収録は東部時間午後4時に予定されていたが、開始予定の20分前に中止された。
"I was just supposed to record a podcast episode with a Fox News host who invited me on their podcast to discuss my reporting in Ukraine," Loomer wrote on X. "I was supposed to record at 4 pm EST, but then they canceled on me 20 minutes before our interview because Fox News management said they can't have me on."
"What a miserable b—!" Loomer added.
Loomerは、この取り消しは長年にわたるパターンの一部だと主張し、Scottが2017年に自身をネットワークのブラックリストに載せたと述べた。
"I've been on this blacklist since 2017," she wrote. "When Pete Hegseth and Judge Jeanine worked for Fox News and tried to have me on, Suzanne Scott (a liberal) told them they couldn't have me on and would be reprimanded if they interacted with me on X," referring to former Fox News host Jeanine Pirro.
"I'm told she allegedly directed the entire network to not cover my trip to Ukraine," Loomer added.
CNN reported in September 2024 that Fox News mentioned Loomer only once during the week she accompanied President Donald Trump to a presidential debate. The limited coverage came despite widespread attention to Loomer's proximity to the then-Republican nominee, including questions from other media outlets about her influence on campaign messaging.
Loomer has a history of launching profane attacks on women in public life. During a social media feud, she previously called Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) a "lunatic hooker" and a "harlot."
The Associated Press reported this week that Loomer traveled to Kyiv and interviewed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, marking a reversal of years of pro-Russia rhetoric. The shift is notable given that Loomer had previously echoed Kremlin-friendly narratives about the conflict. According to Loomer, Fox News declined to cover any aspect of the trip.
"Censorship is alive and well at Fox News," Loomer wrote.
