Seaspan Energy afferma di aver completato la sua 150ª operazione di bunkeraggio LNG ship-to-ship in meno di due anni dal lancio, ed è ora classificata al settimo posto a livello globale per volume di bunkeraggio LNG, secondo le classifiche di LANSDOWNE Moritz.

Ship & Bunker aveva precedentemente riportato che il fornitore canadese aveva effettuato il suo primo bunkeraggio LNG ship-to-ship al Port of Long Beach nel dicembre 2024.

L’azienda ha dichiarato di operare ora tutte e tre le sue navi bunker LNG sulla costa occidentale e di registrare una media di 12 operazioni di bunkeraggio LNG al mese. Seaspan Energy ha aggiunto che più della metà delle sue operazioni si è svolta nel Port of Vancouver, sottolineando il ruolo del porto come snodo chiave per l’attività di navigazione alimentata a LNG nella regione.

Seaspan Energy serve navi da crociera, portacontainer, car carrier e petroliere nei porti di Vancouver, Nanaimo, Royal Roads, Long Beach e Seattle.

L’azienda si rifornisce di LNG presso l’impianto Tilbury LNG di FortisBC nella British Columbia.

"Completing 150 LNG bunkering operations in just 18 months is an incredible achievement for our team," ha dichiarato Harly Penner, presidente di Seaspan Energy, in un comunicato stampa per celebrare il traguardo.

"Seaspan Energy has become one of the world's leading LNG bunker suppliers in a relatively short period of time," ha dichiarato Gary Regan, managing consultant presso LANSDOWNE Moritz, aggiungendo che l’azienda era "well positioned for future growth given its access to dedicated SSLNG loading facilities and competitive value proposition".

Jeff Scott, vice president of operations and supply chain presso la Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, ha affermato che "the rapid growth of LNG bunkering at the Port of Vancouver reflects the shipping industry's focus on decarbonization."
