Sun Silver Intersects Broad Silver-Antimony Mineralisation at Maverick Silver Project in Nevada
Key Takeaways
- •Hole MV0004 at the Maverick Silver project returned an 89-metre intersection grading 70 g/t silver equivalent, including a 0.8-metre bonanna interval at 1,296 g/t.
- •The hole intersected broad antimony mineralisation starting about 60 metres above the current Mineral Resource Estimate, with two intervals of 43.7 and 64.7 metres at 0.06%.
- •Antimony is classified by the US Geological Survey as a critical mineral, and the United States currently has no domestic mine production and relies on imports.
- •Sun Silver is continuing to assess antimony's distribution and scale, with future assays and resource updates expected to determine whether the zones can be incorporated into the silver-gold inventory.
- •SS1 shares were up 1.80% at $1.13, giving the company a market capitalisation of $204.2 million.

Sun Silver (ASX: SS1) has received further positive antimony assays from its ongoing 2026 exploration program at the Maverick Silver project in Nevada, USA.
Complete assay results from hole MV0004, drilled within the south-central portion of the current mineral resource, returned a broad 89-metre intersection grading 70 grams per tonne (g/t) silver equivalent (AgEq) from 126.5 metres. The result included a higher-grade interval of 38.3 metres at 100 g/t AgEq from 134 metres, as well as a "bonanza" section of 0.8 metres at 1,296 g/t AgEq.
Managing Director Andrew Dornan said the result demonstrates the continued presence of discrete zones of very high-grade silver mineralisation within the broader mineralised system.
"MV0004 is another strong result from Maverick Silver, returning almost 90 metres of continuous silver-gold mineralisation and reinforcing the scale and continuity of the current resource," Mr Dornan said. "Importantly, the hole also intersected extensive antimony mineralisation commencing approximately 60 metres above the current MRE and extending across more than 100 metres of cumulative intervals."
MV0004 also intercepted extensive antimony mineralisation starting from approximately 70.6 metres downhole, roughly 60 metres above the current Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE), and extending through substantial portions of the mineralised sequence. The hole returned two broad antimony intervals of 43.7 metres at 0.06% and 64.7 metres at 0.06%, including higher-grade zones of 19.3 metres at 0.10% and 16.5 metres at 0.10%, respectively.
Antimony is listed by the US Geological Survey as a critical mineral and is used in flame retardants, ammunition, lead-acid batteries, and a range of defence and technology applications. The United States currently has no domestic mine production of antimony and relies on imports, with China the dominant global refiner of the metal — a supply concentration that has underpinned recent policy interest in developing domestic sources. Nevada, as a historic mining jurisdiction, hosts a small number of antimony occurrences, though US production has in recent years been limited to output from recycled material.
Mr Dornan said the results continue to demonstrate that antimony mineralisation at the Maverick Silver Project occurs over substantial widths and extends beyond the boundaries of the currently delineated silver-gold MRE.
"The company considers this particularly encouraging given antimony's strategic importance to the United States and its potential to represent an additional critical-mineral opportunity alongside Maverick Silver's globally significant silver inventory," he said.
Sun Silver is continuing to assess the distribution, continuity and potential scale of antimony mineralisation across the project as additional multi-element assays are received from the ongoing drilling program. Investors will be watching future assay batches and any eventual updates to the resource estimate to establish whether the antimony zones can be delineated with sufficient continuity to be formally incorporated alongside the silver-gold inventory.
SS1 shares were up 1.80% at $1.13, with a market capitalisation of $204.2 million.
