Marine fuels trading company Sing Fuels has announced it is looking to hire a junior bunker trader based in Singapore, according to a job advertisement posted on its website.

Singapore is the world's largest bunkering port by volume, consistently ranking as the busiest marine fuels hub globally, making it a strategically significant location for bunker trading operations.

The firm is seeking candidates with one to two years of experience in bunker trading, marine fuels, or shipping.

According to the job description, the successful candidate will work closely with senior bunker traders to secure new business and maintain relationships with clients and key industry contacts. Responsibilities include building familiarity with customers, suppliers, barge operators, port authorities, and surveyors, as well as serving as a reliable point of contact for customer requests and transactions.

Additional duties outlined in the posting include understanding the basic bunker purchasing process and commonly used terms, assisting with pre-sale and pre- and post-delivery information gathering and follow-up, conducting market research, and prospecting for new business. The role also calls for the candidate to develop and maintain a portfolio of their own customers and suppliers.

Day-to-day tasks will involve active brokering and trading on behalf of clients to secure optimal rates that benefit both the company and the customer. The junior trader will also be expected to assist the trading team with ad-hoc duties as needed.
