Spanish energy company Repsol has completed its first bunker delivery at the Port of Chancay in Peru, supplying 740 mt of VLSFO to a container ship.
The fuel was delivered from Repsol’s bunker tanker Thomas B, which has a storage capacity of 20,000 mt, the company said in an emailed statement on Tuesday.
The operation marks Repsol’s entry into bunkering at Chancay, a port located about 75 km north of Callao that is emerging as a major Pacific coast maritime hub. For shippers and fuel suppliers, adding bunker capability at a newer port can broaden refueling options beyond established locations and help support traffic as port activity develops.
“This marks a significant milestone for Repsol’s bunkering operations in Peru and reinforces its commitment to expanding and developing the country's bunker market, while delivering reliable, high-quality marine fuel solutions to its customers,” the company said.
Repsol currently operates two bunker tankers in Callao — Thomas B (20,000 Dwt) and Adrian (16,000 Dwt) — in Peru.
The company’s marine fuel portfolio includes HSFO, VLSFO and LSMGO.
