In the grain complex, December corn — the contract that tracks the newly harvested crop — settled at $5.36 3/4, down 4 cents, while November soybeans, also a new-crop contract, finished at $13.09 3/4, down 6 1/2 cents. October soybean meal closed at $348.20, down 40 cents, and October soybean oil ended at 68.89, down 74 points. December Chicago wheat settled at $7.34, down 20 1/4 cents.
