Marine fuel trading firm FLEX Commodities FZCO has appointed a senior marine fuels trader in Singapore, according to Ship & Bunker.
Euwyn Tan joined the company as senior trader as of this month, FLEX Commodities said in a LinkedIn post.
Tan previously served as bunker trading manager at Propeller Fuels Limited in Singapore from December 2023 until this month. Before that, he was director at the 83 Marketing Co Ltd in Thailand from 2019 to 2023. Earlier in his career, Tan spent nearly seven years at Raffles Bunkering in Singapore as a bunker trader and purchaser, from 2012 to 2019. The appointment brings a trader with more than a decade of Singapore bunker market experience to the young firm, which has been building out its trading bench since its founding.
"Based in Singapore, Euwyn will play an important role in strengthening FLEX Commodities' marine fuels trading capabilities and expanding our presence across the Asian market," FLEX Commodities said.
Singapore is the world's largest marine fuels bunkering hub by volume, making it a key posting for firms seeking to grow Asian bunkering business.
FLEX Commodities was launched in September 2024 by Rakesh Sharma, the former chief operating officer of Oilmar. The hire comes amid continued activity in marine fuels trading as the industry also navigates evolving fuel choices, including growing uptake of alternative bunker fuels alongside conventional high-sulphur fuel oil, very low-sulphur fuel oil and marine gasoil.
