Taiwan's CPC Corporation bunker barge Chung Yu No 18 has resumed operations at Keelung Port in Taiwan after completing repairs and testing.
The barge had been temporarily withdrawn from service due to an equipment failure, the company said in an emailed notification on Monday. CPC said normal operations have now resumed with immediate effect. Such withdrawals matter for ship operators because Keelung, in northern Taiwan, handles regular container and cargo traffic, and a reduced barge fleet can affect bunkering scheduling and turnaround times for vessels calling at the port.
With Chung Yu No 18 back in service, the temporary support provided by the New Taiwan Fuel bunker barge has ended, and bunkering operations at Keelung Port will continue with Chung Yu No 18.
CPC added that another of its bunker barges, Chung Yu No 19, is currently undergoing a major overhaul and is expected to resume operations in February 2027. Until then, CPC's bunkering capacity at Keelung will rest on a smaller fleet, which may be worth watching if further equipment issues arise.
