Western LNG has awarded a contract to Swiss-based marine construction specialist Allseas for the installation of the critical subsea section of the Prince Rupert Gas Transmission (PRGT) pipeline in northwest Canada.

The subsea pipeline is located in the remote waters of northwestern British Columbia, near the Alaska border, and forms the final link in a 700 km system that will transport Canadian natural gas to the planned Ksi Lisims LNG export facility on the Pacific coast. In a project of this scale, the offshore segment is the part that physically connects the inland transmission route to the liquefaction site, making the marine installation a key step before the wider export chain can be completed.
