Double, the leading AI close platform, has launched Autoclose by Double, a product that allows accounting teams to hand the month-end close to AI agents. The launch was announced on October 26, 2026. Attivo Partners, an AI-focused accounting and finance firm supporting more than 500 venture-backed companies on Double, has signed on to roll out Autoclose across its practice, working alongside the company as an early adopter and building partner.
The month-end close, in which finance teams reconcile accounts, verify balances, and finalize financial statements after each accounting period, has long been one of the most labor-intensive recurring workloads in accounting. Traditional closes typically rely on monthly checklists of tasks such as gathering statements, posting accruals, and matching transactions. Autoclose is built to hand off exactly this checklist structure: the agents take over execution, and the preparer's month-end role is limited to review.
AI Agents Run the Close Throughout the Month
With Autoclose, the agents execute each step of the close throughout the month—from retrieving bank statements and categorizing bank feeds to reconciling accounts. The agents operate across the banks, payment platforms, and systems that firms already use. Distributing execution across the month spreads out the close work that traditional checklists compress into the last days of the period. When the month ends, accountants open review-ready books, resolve the flagged items, and sign off—a workflow that puts review and judgment, rather than step-by-step preparation, at the center of the month-end close.
“Automating the close has always been the promise of AI in accounting, and with Autoclose, we have delivered on it,” said Ben Stein, CEO of Double. “With agents doing the work of the close, firms can grow revenue without growing headcount. Over time, that changes the shape of the whole organization, and firms like Attivo are leading the way.”
Attivo Extends AI Across Its Client Base
Attivo has been actively embedding AI into its accounting workflows across its client base. The firm already uses Double's AI for variance analysis, client setup, recurring accruals, and transaction processing. Autoclose builds on that foundation, extending AI from individual workflows to the entire close. For a practice like Attivo's, the difference is structural: the execution of closes across more than 500 client relationships moves to the agents, leaving the firm's teams with the review and the client work that the agents do not handle.
“Autoclose represents the kind of opportunity we see for AI to fundamentally rethink how accounting work gets done,” said Greg Capitolo, Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Attivo Partners. “Our work with Double is helping us reduce repetitive work across the close and create more capacity for our teams to focus on the judgment, experience, and client partnership that technology can't replace.”
How the rollout performs across Attivo's base of more than 500 venture-backed companies will provide an early, at-scale view of agent-run closes in production—including how much of the repetitive close workload the agents absorb and how firms redeploy the capacity they free up.
