Washington, D.C. — 根據 NOTUS 報導，U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro 與另外四名聯邦檢察官正面臨國會調查，內容涉及眾議院司法委員會首席民主黨議員、馬里蘭州聯邦眾議員 Jamie Raskin（D-MD）所稱司法部內「appalling」的檢察不當行為。

週三，Raskin 發出的信件顯示，包括 Pirro 在內、來自五個司法區的 U.S. attorneys 正因涉嫌檢察不當行為接受調查。在寄給 Pirro 的信中，Raskin 要求她「be more forthcoming with Congress about the appalling breakdown of prosecutorial standards and ethics taking place in your jurisdiction.」

這項要求出現在國會對司法部的監督愈加具體之際，委員會要求提供記錄與說明，而非籠統的政策表述。就 Pirro 而言，該信也要求提供可能揭示內部決策的資料，包括電子郵件、辭職信與會議紀錄。

信中也指出，Attorney General Todd Blanche 收到另一封信，內容關於「the shocking pattern of Department of Justice (DOJ) attorneys lying to federal courts, misrepresenting facts, withholding material information from federal judges, and evading or defying lawful court orders.」根據該信，Blanche「failed to respond to this letter by the requested deadline.」

NOTUS 報導指出，若民主黨在 11 月期中選舉後重新奪回眾議院，這項調查可能進一步升溫，屆時 Raskin 將成為眾議院司法委員會主席。

NOTUS 表示，調查中被點名的其他 U.S. attorneys 來自明尼蘇達州、新澤西州、羅德島州以及伊利諾伊州北區。調查內容包括據稱對一家提供性別肯定照護的羅德島醫院送達有瑕疵的傳票，以及伊利諾伊州聯邦檢察官據稱違反大陪審團規則，藉此取得對 Broadview Six——一群反 ICE 抗議者——的起訴書，NOTUS 報導稱。

寄給 Pirro 的信指責其辦公室缺乏坦誠，並要求提供包括電子郵件、辭職信與會議紀錄在內的資料。信中也將此次調查定義為更廣泛檢視聯邦檢察官在法庭及與法官互動中是否履行其義務的一部分，這類問題可能影響案件進行方式，以及國會如何評估司法部的內部控管。

信中寫道：「Both the House Committee on the Judiciary and independent observers have identified your office as one of the most significant and routine violators of basic legal and ethical standards, like the duty of showing candor to the court and the obligation to comply with judicial orders," the letter read. "Multiple federal judges in your district have questioned the candor and honesty of your attorneys and your voluntary compliance with binding court orders.」
