The rebound followed the release of the company's 2025 Sustainability Report, which outlined initiatives across energy efficiency, water conservation, and community investment as Nebius works to lower infrastructure costs while scaling its global AI cloud network. The report arrives as the data center industry faces intensifying scrutiny over power and water consumption, driven by surging AI training and inference workloads that are pushing facility densities to unprecedented levels.

The company said it designs its infrastructure as a unified system to maximize useful computing output per unit of energy consumed.
While Nebius anticipates overall electricity demand will increase as it develops several gigawatts of computing capacity, its engineering strategy targets reduced operating waste across both existing and planned facilities, supporting capacity growth while limiting the additional energy required for each unit of computing.

Water consumption has become a growing concern for the industry, particularly in water-stressed regions where local governments and communities are scrutinizing data center withdrawals.
Based on current designs, Nebius estimates that each gigawatt of capacity could avoid 3.3 billion liters of water intake — equivalent to nearly 900 million U.S. gallons or approximately 1,300 Olympic-sized swimming pools. The company plans to deploy similar air and liquid cooling systems at new locations.
Nebius also recovered waste heat from its data center in Mäntsälä, Finland, during the reporting period. The system delivered 19.5 GWh of heat to the local district heating network in 2025 and reduced heating costs for connected households by approximately 10%, according to company estimates. Waste-heat recovery partnerships of this kind have been pioneered by Nordic data center operators and are increasingly studied as a model for facilities in other climate zones.
