Hirect secured its first order from Indian Railways for Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) train propulsion systems, marking the company’s entry into this segment and broadening its footprint in India’s railway equipment market.
Under the contract, Hirect will supply complete propulsion systems for four trainsets to the Modern Coach Factory over the next 24 months, following its recent corporate rebranding. The order is a notable step because MEMU trains are used on busy suburban and intercity routes, where propulsion systems are a core part of train performance and service reliability.
Shares of Hirect closed 0.92% higher at ₹1,296.80 apiece on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Friday. The stock has risen about 73% so far in 2026 and nearly 82% over the past 12 months.
