Citi называет падение акций Oracle на 50% исторической возможностью для покупки

Citi analyst Tyler Radke has initiated a positive catalyst watch on Oracle, sending shares up as much as 4.5% on Wednesday morning. The firm kept its Buy rating and $330 price target, saying the stock’s recent decline was unusually severe relative to Oracle’s normal trading patterns.

Oracle Corporation (ORCL) was trading near $147 at the time of publication, far below Citi’s target. Radke said the company’s shares fell by more than 50% between their June peak and July low, describing the move as “four to five standard deviations” beyond Oracle’s typical volatility over just 30 to 40 trading sessions.

Citi argued that the selloff has created an unusual opportunity for investors. The decline, according to the firm, was driven by concern over Oracle’s large spending commitments tied to AI infrastructure for customers including Microsoft and OpenAI, as well as a rising debt burden. Over the past five years, Oracle’s debt obligations have increased 60%, while free cash flow shifted from positive $13.8 billion to negative $23.7 billion. Wall Street forecasts also suggest Oracle may use an additional $90 billion over the next two years, underscoring why the stock has become a focal point for investors weighing growth investment against balance-sheet pressure.

Citi Says the Worst May Already Be Priced In

Despite those pressures, Citi said the most negative scenarios appear to be reflected in the current valuation. The bank pointed to what it described as “insatiable” demand for AI capabilities and Oracle’s $85 billion order backlog, which it believes covers nearly all of the company’s near-term cash needs.

Citi also raised its revenue and profit estimates for fiscal 2028 through fiscal 2030. For 2030, the firm expects Oracle to generate $22 in earnings per share, which would be roughly three to four times current GAAP earnings.

Credit conditions were another part of Citi’s bullish view. The firm said bond spreads and credit default swap spreads have begun to narrow, suggesting pressure from forced liquidation may be easing.

Earnings and Investor Day Seen as Potential Catalysts

Oracle is scheduled to report earnings in September and plans to hold an investor day in late October. Citi said both events could act as positive catalysts for the stock, giving management a chance to address spending plans, backlog conversion and the path to cash generation.

A day before Wednesday’s gain, Oracle highlighted its distributed cloud architecture at an industry conference, reinforcing its position in the enterprise AI market.

The broader market offered little support. The S&P 500 rose just 0.1%, while the Nasdaq finished nearly unchanged, indicating Oracle’s move was company-specific. Among enterprise software peers, SAP fell more than 3% after UBS downgraded the stock to Neutral, which may have helped Oracle’s relative standing during the session.

Oracle’s consensus analyst rating remains Buy. The stock’s 52-week range is $114.50 to $345.72. Citi’s view is also shaped by the company’s valuation, noting that Oracle trades at a price-to-earnings multiple below 25 and has projected five-year growth of 27% annually. On that basis, the firm’s $330 price target implies substantial upside from current levels.
