Glassnode says Bitcoin’s correlation with the S&P 500 is nearing a two-year low as BTC remains below recent highs.
A break below $77,000 could expose $69,160 and $64,260, while a four-hour close above $81,440 would invalidate the bearish setup.
Apparent demand has turned negative, although improving MACD and RSI readings above their averages point to a modest recovery in short-term momentum.
Bitcoin is trading near $77,560 as Glassnode reports a break from equities, while analysts flag renewed demand weakness. Crypto Patel sees a bearish setup below $77,000, while Darkfost says apparent demand has turned negative again. The data comes as Bitcoin remains below recent highs after repeated rejection around $80,000 and $81,000, keeping traders focused on whether the market can hold nearby support even as its behavior diverges from U.S. stocks.
Bitcoin’s Link With Equities Weakens
According to Glassnode, Bitcoin’s correlation with the S&P 500 is nearing its lowest level in almost two years. The firm said the relationship that shaped much of the recent downtrend is fading. Meanwhile, Bitcoin’s price structure remains under pressure.
From Aug. 25 through Sept. 2, BTC briefly moved above $81,000 before another rally stalled near $80,500 to $81,000. However, sellers have since pushed price lower, creating resistance around $78,800 to $79,100. Bitcoin recently traded near $77,560, with $77,000 and $76,500 forming nearby support areas.
Crypto Patel Flags $77,000 Breakdown Risk
Crypto Patel said BTC remains below a descending trendline after losing its rising support. The analyst said the bounce toward $80,000 failed, leaving the bearish structure in place. A move below $77,000 could accelerate the decline, according to Patel.
The analyst listed targets at $69,160 and $64,260, with $81,440 on a four-hour close invalidating the setup. Patel also identified a clean breakdown and failed retest of $78,000 to $80,000 as a trigger. That setup would place the next major downside move under closer watch.
Demand Weakens as Momentum Shows Recovery
Darkfost reported that selling pressure remains consistent as short-term holders continue realizing profits. The analyst also said apparent demand turned negative again after declining over recent days, a sign that buyers have yet to fully absorb the recent supply.
The price data, however, shows some improvement in short-term momentum. Bitcoin’s 14-period RSI is at 47.80, above its average near 40.71 and below the neutral 50 mark. Meanwhile, the MACD histogram is positive at 62.90.
The MACD line at -192.91 remains above the signal line at -255.81, showing a bullish crossover below zero. Bitcoin remains near $77,560 after falling from recent highs. A move above $78,000 would target $78,800 to $79,000, while losing $77,000 could expose $76,500.
