For XRP holders and developers, the integration creates more direct liquidity paths. Wrapped Bitcoin, Ethereum-based assets, tokenized Treasury bills, and other instruments can now move in and out of the XRPL environment with fewer intermediary steps and less dependence on centralized exchanges or single-purpose bridges. The inclusion of mTBILL reflects the broader growth of real-world asset (RWA) tokenization on XRPL, an area where the ledger's native features — including a built-in decentralized exchange and fast settlement — have attracted issuers of tokenized commodities, stablecoins, and debt instruments.

While Axelar's integration does not automatically generate new applications on the XRPL, it removes a significant infrastructure barrier for capital seeking to move between ecosystems. The XRPL EVM Sidechain specifically addresses a historical gap by enabling Solidity-based smart contracts to run within the XRPL environment, allowing Ethereum developers to deploy familiar DeFi, lending, and trading applications without learning a new programming model.

The XRP Ledger Foundation has previously emphasized the network's settlement speed, noting that assets can move cross-chain and settle on XRPL within seconds. Whether transaction volume materializes on these new rails remains to be seen, but the infrastructure is now in place for broader multi-chain asset movement. A key indicator to watch will be whether this connectivity translates into measurable growth in XRPL's total value locked and whether established DeFi protocols from Ethereum or other EVM chains choose to deploy on the sidechain.
