Strategy reporta una pérdida de $8.22 mil millones en el segundo trimestre de 2026 en medio de la caída del precio de Bitcoin

Bitcoin treasury company Strategy (NASDAQ: MSTR), formerly known as MicroStrategy, reported a net loss of $8.22 billion for the second quarter of 2026, attributing the result to a sharp decline in the price of Bitcoin. The loss marks a significant reversal from the same period in 2025, when the company posted net income of $10.02 billion. Strategy, which began accumulating Bitcoin as its primary treasury reserve asset in August 2020, has since become the largest publicly traded corporate holder of the cryptocurrency.

Despite the quarterly loss, the Tysons, Virginia-based firm continued raising capital, acquiring additional Bitcoin, and paying down debt during the period. The reported loss largely reflects unrealized declines in the market value of Strategy's Bitcoin holdings under fair value accounting, rather than cash outflows. Strategy CEO and President Phong Le stated: "In the second quarter of 2026, Strategy strengthened its balance sheet while navigating a meaningful Bitcoin price decline."

Michael Saylor, the company's chairman and the architect behind its Bitcoin acquisition strategy, added: "In the midst of this phase of muted Bitcoin sentiment and market skepticism, we continue to evolve our business model and establish digital credit as a new asset class." (Source)

Over the quarter, Strategy increased its total Bitcoin holdings by 11%. The company now holds 843,775 Bitcoins, valued at approximately $54.6 billion at current market prices. However, Strategy paused its Bitcoin purchases for five consecutive weeks, redirecting focus toward bolstering its cash position.

Bitcoin itself has struggled significantly, recently trading near $64,745 and down 26% year-to-date. The cryptocurrency has fallen nearly 50% from its all-time high of $126,080 reached in October 2025.

Strategy's stock, which investors often use as a vehicle for leveraged exposure to Bitcoin, has also been hit hard. MSTR shares are currently down more than 80% from their 2024 peak above $500 per share. The company also offers other financial products, including STRC, which provides investors with dividend payments.
