Crypto exchange Gemini and Apex Fintech Solutions have signed a non-binding letter of intent that would make Gemini Titan the exclusive regulated venue for crypto event contracts offered by brokerage firms through Apex's Futures Commission Merchant (FCM).

Under the proposed arrangement, participating brokerages would use Gemini for the execution and clearing of crypto event contracts, giving the exchange a new distribution channel for its prediction-market business. For brokerage firms, the setup would plug a regulated event-contract venue into existing trading infrastructure rather than requiring a separate direct-to-exchange workflow.

Apex provides trading and clearing infrastructure to hundreds of financial firms serving tens of millions of investors, according to the company.

Gemini has been building out its regulated prediction-market business since receiving approval from the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission to operate a designated contract market in December 2025 and to clear derivatives in-house in April. Those approvals give the company the regulatory footing to offer listed event contracts and handle clearing internally, which is central to the kind of brokerage distribution the companies described.

The companies already work together on stock trading: Apex Clearing provides custody and clearing for Gemini's zero-commission US equities offering, which launched in July.

The proposed partnership comes as prediction markets face mounting legal challenges at the state level in the US. Most recently, a Washington state judge ordered Kalshi to stop offering a broad range of event contracts in the state, rejecting the company's argument that federal commodities law preempts state gambling law. That legal backdrop helps explain why regulated venues and established brokerage infrastructure matter for firms seeking broader distribution in this market.
